Hook, Line & Sinker – Berri
Hook, Line & Sinker commenced business at Barmera, in South Australia’s Riverland district in 1988. A year later, it relocated to Berri, on the River Murray and hub to the Riverland area. The current owners, John & Shirley Cockshell purchased Hook, Line and Sinker late 1989.
John Cockshell moved to larger premises and expanded their range of Fishing Tackle to include Camping, Outdoor Accessories, Pet Supplies and Aquarium fish. In 1995, Hook, Line & Sinker purchased their current Denny Street location, expanding to include Boating Accessories, Water sports and Caravan spares.
Hook, Line & Sinker boast the largest combined range of Fishing Tackle, Outdoor, Camping, Fish Finders, Gps and Electronic Mapping, Caravan and Boat Accessories, Aquarium Fish, Pet Supplies, Maps, Telescopes and Binoculars in the Riverland and is easily one of the largest stores of its type in South Australia.
Hook, Line and Sinker won the Riverland Small Business Tourism Award in 1991 and John Cockshell achieved the Most Outstanding contribution to Tourism along with the Town Courtesy Award for Berri. The store is a must visit destination for anyone contemplating a visit to South Australia’s River Murray region. Berri is within driving distance from Renmark, Waikerie, Loxton, Barmera and many other areas of the Murray Mallee.
The Riverland is well known for producing some of the best wines in Australia and boast exports for many other products such as Dried Fruit, Cereal, Sheep, Cattle, Citrus Fruits, Vegetables and other manufactured products. In addition to the above, many Riverland businesses are contributing to ecological advancements to revitalise the River Murray and its surrounding areas, some of which have won recognition world wide.
Berri is situated on the banks of the River Murray and is a great holiday destination for camping, fishing, skiing and boating. The area also boasts good sporting and accommodation with hotels/motels and caravan parks offering above average facilities.
